Vegetables Curry

Saturday 30/05/2011

My dear friend R recommended A1 brand curry paste to me when we went out for grocery shopping & makan (=eating) madness on the day. I was craving badly for vegetables curry. NO NO I dont have a bun in my oven...I was seriously craving for curry, blame the weather (almost winter now) & blame myself for buying too much vegetables.

I always try to make stuff from scratch whenever I can/ whenever I am in the mood (well...this cooking mood does not happen very often LoL..). This time I just had to I give it a go with instant sauce coz I was in desperation to cook all my vegs in the fridge & my head keep thinking bout veg curry plus I dont know how to make curry from scratch. All the excuses I can think of....

The verdict ... I am very pleased with the results, it did taste like home cooked curry with minimal effort & cooking time. I will try different flavour from the same brand next time.

Ingredients:
  • 2/3 pack Malaysian Curry Paste (A1 brand)
  • 2 tomatoes - cut into 8 parts per tomato
  • tofu puff
  • 1 large carrot - chunky cut
  • 1 eggplant - chunky cut
  • 1/2 cauliflower - cut into florettes
  • 1-2 tablespoon tamarind water
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cups light coconut milk

Method:
  1. In a large pot, pour in water + coconut milk + curry paste
  2. Once boiled, add all vegies except tomatoes
  3. Boil for 15 mins on high heat, 15 mins on medium heat
  4. Then 5 mins on low heat
  5. Add tomatoes, tofu & tamarind water
  6. Ready to serve

Gourmetorange is on another holiday =)

    Hello all,

Greetings from Bali ... I am on another holiday right now, my much deserved holiday after all the roller coaster rides I had. Bali is 31 degrees, humid & sunny everyday. My luggage is slowly running out of space ... not a good sign for my pocket.
My last visit was 2 years ago & during this visit I feel, there's much more places to visit (shopping & eating out).
I will post more infos & photos as usual...please be patient, internet speed is kinda slower than snail here.

    *** DRUM ROLL ***
    *** DRUM ROLL ***
    *** DRUM ROLL ***
    *** DRUM ROLL ***
    *** DRUM ROLL ***

    My blog's visitor stats showed 5000 pageviews @ 11.27pm ... yayyyy.
When I first started my blog I thought the only reader was me, myself, and I (plus my family & friends).
The number '5000' may seems small for blogger standard, however, I am really happy to see 4 digits pageviews & to see that people from different part of the world also read my blog. It is such a meaningful and memorable number for me.

Thank you all for dropping by ... love you all for your support & hope my infos are somehow useful !!

I created this pumpkin & spinach pie by accident during a rainy weekend. St Malo Bakery Crows Nest

St Malo is fairly new in Crows Nest (close to North Sydney), probably about 1 yr old. I have been a loyal customer of St Malo Bakery since day 1 when they opened their door & they are the best bakery in Crows Nest (there are 4 bakery within the area).
Artisan organic bread, pastry, quiches, pies, birthday cakes, pre-made sandwiches are available. Everything is made fresh on the spot & priced reasonably.

Simple French decor with limited seating areas. My favourite spot is the 'aquarium' - sitting inside the glass room next to the kitchen & you can watch the chef playing with the dough - twist, flatten, shape, roll, bake, etc. My little words of wisdom 'come early to avoid long Q, breakfast can go a little crazy here'.
